CFA Society of Minnesota Hosts 2013 Annual Economic Dinner

The CFA Society of Minnesota will host its 2013 Annual Economic Forecast Dinner on Thursday, January 24, at the Graves 601 Hotel in Minneapolis. This year’s theme is “Kicking the Can or Cliff Diving?” A panel of local experts will discuss a host of questions, including: What's ahead for the U.S. economy? Will lawmakers continue to kick critical issues down the road hoping they'll go away? Is the well-advertised “fiscal cliff” an isolated event or just the beginning of a series of self-inflicted economic crises? How is the growing role of politics changing the markets?

“As Americans and the world await a resolution to the self-inflicted predicament commonly called ‘the fiscal cliff’, the CFA Society of MN has assembled an expert panel to discuss and debate the ever-increasing role of government in the economy,” said Robert L. Buss, CFA, CIPM, chairman of the board of the CFA Society of Minnesota. “This topic, at this time, with this expert panel will surely provide an enlightening, educating and I’m sure entertaining evening for our guests.”

The Society’s expert panel includes Varadarajan V. Chari, PhD, Professor of Economics, University of Minnesota; Tom Emmer, 2010 Republican nominee for Governor of Minnesota and co-host of the Davis & Emmer in the Morning Twin Cities News Talk program on FoxNews Radio and Gordon Telfer, Senior Vice President, Nuveen Asset Management. Thomas G. Kamp, CFA, President and CIO, Cornerstone Capital Management, will act as moderator.

Registration and reception begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and panel discussion at 7:30 p.m.
