The Massachusetts based developer, WS Development, announced today its plans to bring top designer and brand name outlets to the Cheshire project. This open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complex will also include public open space, walkways, recreation amenities, a residential component and full service grocer. The center will be located at the I-84/I-691 Interchange in Cheshire along Route 10 in the town’s Interchange Zone.
“The decision to build a destination outlet center is in large part due to the very strong retail interest in the project and the success of outlet centers today,” said Mark Roberts, Senior Vice President of Leasing at WS Development. “With its convenient highway location and super regional access, the project is perfectly positioned within the state for outlet retail,” he added.
Construction is anticipated to commence in early 2014 with a projected opening of summer 2015. WS Development will introduce leading fashion and designer outlet stores to this 500,000 square foot project.
This upscale outlet center is directly accessible from I-691 to I-84 and I-91. The WS Development project will be an amenity for the residents of the Town of Cheshire, providing shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities that are not available in the regional marketplace today. In addition, WS Development projects to create a positive economic impact for the area by creating an estimated 400 jobs during construction and approximately 1,100 full and part-time permanent jobs upon completion. The commercial center is estimated to generate annual property tax revenues of approximately $1.6 million and will diversify the Town of Cheshire’s existing tax base and serve as a catalyst for the surrounding area. The project will also include significant public roadway and utility infrastructure improvements.
Unique project features will include a state of the art design with a pedestrian friendly layout that will function as an open-air streetscape with landscaped courtyards and park-like settings throughout the complex.
