Speedway Fuels Up With NCR

Speedway Choose NCR Payments

Motorists who like to get in and out while fueling up haven’t had much luck lately with EMV protections slowing down processing times. However, one of the largest convenience and gas station chains in the country is doing what it can to make things a little bit of a smoother ride.

Speedway, owner and operator of 2,770 fill-up stations and convenience stores, announced on Monday (July 25) that it had finalized a deal with NCR Corporation to onboard the payments provider’s EMV-ready solutions. With the deal, modular terminals under the NCR OPTIC line will grace Speedway’s checkout counters, as well as gas pumps, to streamline the purchasing process, no matter where consumers choose to complete their orders.

“We are a customer-focused organization, and as such, we are always looking for ways to add speed and simplicity for consumers, whether they are fueling, eating or shopping in our stores,” Tony Kenney, president of Speedway, said in a statement. “NCR’s OPTIC solution allows us to continue to provide exceptional service for our valued customers.”

The move is also a big win for NCR, which extends its retail footprint by several thousand stores.

“Speedway is a leader in the convenience store industry,” Michael Bayer, president of retail at NCR, said. “Extending the relationship with Speedway and providing our latest pay-at-the-pump solutions opens the door to more innovation. Our focus is to help customers, such as Speedway, build more efficient, profitable and connected businesses.”
