Verifone Launches Verifone Engage In Europe, Eyes SMB Market

Verifone announced on Monday (Nov. 21) that it launched Verifone Engage with the all-in-one countertop product Verifone V200c in Europe.

In a press release, the company said Verifone Engage with Verifone V200c was installed at Anne Rueschenschmidt, a clothing retailer in Rheine in Northern Germany. The company also said the Verifone Engage family of devices are now available to small and medium business across Germany via InterCard, a network service provider which Verifone bought in 2015.

“The Verifone Engage family approach offers consistently high-quality and design, security and multidimensional features for enhanced retail experiences and new levels of personalization with consumers,” said Markus Hoevekamp, vice president and general manager of Verifone Germany, in the press release. “The power, performance and quality of Engage are especially reassuring for our partners as adoption spreads across Europe where more retailers are embracing connected commerce technologies in their stores.”

Verifone is going after the hundreds of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses in Germany and hooked up with InterCard and other network service providers to reach retailers looking for payment technology to accept payment options at faster speeds and meet local regulatory requirements by the end of next year.

Verifone noted that secure payment and ease of use were two reasons why the German retailer opted to go with Verifone. “We had many customers using the new device during our first weekend, and we were happy to smoothly and quickly accept contactless payments. We are now in the process of equipping four more stores with Verifone to prepare for a busy holiday season when we are keen to serve customers efficiently using the latest technology,” said store owner Anne Rueschenschmidt. Verifone’s V200c accepts all payment types, including NFC/contactless, mobile wallets, mobile pay and EMV chip cards.
