eCommerce Warehouse Labor Costs On The Rise

Canada Warehouse Growth

With the amount of online shopping orders skyrocketing over the past few years, it’s being reported that many eCommerce warehouses are having a tough time with hiring enough employees. The rate of labor costs rising up to $12.15 per worker per hour in conjuncture with the uptick in online shopping is impacting warehouse operations.

According to Warehouse Mobile Solutions‘ CEO Tim Hoj, retailers and logistics companies everywhere are rapidly opening up new locations which is also causing a struggle in finding enough new employees to fulfill consumer demand. Currently, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ data is showing that the one million warehouse workers will double by the year 2020.

To help fill these spots, there’s the possibility that warehouse automation efforts will also see an increase over the next few years.
