Seamless Adds New Alexa Skill

Food delivery platform Seamless is making it easier for Alexa devotees to make repeat orders from their device with simple voice commands.  As of yesterday, Seamless launched its Reorder with Seamless skill for Alexa.

The skill will work for any seamless customer with an Alexa-enabled device on hand and gives users access to the 50,000 restaurants nationwide tied together by the platform. This number includes more than 11,000 restaurants in the Greater New York City area alone.

To use the app, users can trigger the system with phrases like, “Alexa, tell Seamless I am hungry” — or the perhaps less clunky, “Alexa, open Seamless.” Once opened, the app gives diners their reorder choices and places the order. Users get an estimated delivery time.

“We’re always evolving the ordering process to adapt to the ‘on-the-go’ lifestyle of our busy New York diners,” said Sudev Balakrishnan, senior vice president of product, Grubhub — Seamless’s parent firm. “The new Alexa skill will delight diners with the added convenience of quickly reordering some of their favorite meals, using only their voice.”
