Businesses Gear Up For Uncertain Summer

Amid a great deal of uncertainty about future state and U.S. guidelines for reopening, businesses now face the prospect of organizing, buying and hiring for the coming summer, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Companies and municipalities throughout the country rely on the summer season for their survival. In the summer of 2020, a large number of businesses were fully or mainly shuttered. Some may be able to withstand another tough season, but others will not.

Businesses need time to purchase products, find workers and create marketing campaigns to bring in people for the upcoming season. Some companies are making arrangements that allow them maximum flexibility depending on how the season goes.

In one case, Fireworks by Grucci is offering another level of financial security to clients in 2021. Those customers won’t lose their money if they have to call off a gathering, even at the eleventh hour, due to COVID-19. Chief Executive and Creative Director Phil Grucci said “it gives them the comfort” they require, per WSJ.

Ahead of last summer, PYMNTS reported that it seemed the great American road trip was set to make a comeback, as the early days of the pandemic recovery would occur at the same time as the summer vacation season. But not everyone is ready – PYMNTS’ survey data shows that consumers on the whole aren’t ready to simply resume life as they knew it before.
