Engility, a cybersecurity firm based in Chantilly, Virginia, announced that it was awarded a $31 million contract in support of the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Cyber Security Engineering Division.

The company’s work will include providing the Air Force with a cybersecurity assessment, analysis and research for its Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC).

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center acquires and supports Air Force weapon systems throughout their entire life cycle.

“This new contract, a take-away win, expands our cybersecurity partnership with the Air Force and gives us the opportunity to bring our cyber vulnerability assessment and research expertise to support their evolving requirements,” Engility CEO Lynn Dugle said in a statement. “We look forward to working with DTIC and helping the Air Force solve their toughest cyber challenges.”

The five-year cost plus fixed fee (CPFF) award will cover cyber services and solutions that include assessments, independent verification and validation (IV&V), site audits, software assurance, prototypes and processes.

In its contract work, Engility will be tasked with studying, analyzing, advising and conducting research and development to push cybersecurity initiatives forward within the Air Force’s mission requirements. It’s expected that Engility’s approach to penetration testing of security requirements will save the Air Force substantial time and cost.

“We want to be able to ‘bake in’ cybersecurity from the beginning … with our weapons systems,” Gen. Ellen M. Pawlikowski, the Air Force Materiel Command commander, said earlier this year.
