TSYS Partners On New EMV Solution

TSYS said on Tuesday (June 21) that it has partnered with Equinox Payments, which provides payments terminals and payments applications, in a deal that offers a “semi-integrated payments solution” aimed at VARs to help that audience bring EMV to their clients.

Through the partnership, the two companies will offer the solution across the Equinox Apollo terminal and noted that the Voyager application is EMV-certified with features developed for lodging, retail and restaurant operating environments.

In a statement that accompanied the release, Craig Ludwig, TSYS Merchant Services segment group executive stated: “Our new solution developed with Equinox allows VARs and their merchants to get on the right side of the EMV liability shift. By leveraging the TSYS-certified Equinox Apollo terminal as a semi-integrated solution, developers can accelerate their EMV deployment using a suite of tools to integrate their point-of-sale (POS) solution. We’re proud to offer our clients a robust solution that not only reduces the costs and time required for EMV certification but also provides advanced security features, including encryption and tokenization, to guard against credit card fraud.”

The firms said that the Voyager application, which is compatible for standalone and semi-integrated options, can be certified to support up to 20 merchant configurations, as well as the Quick Chip offered by Visa and the MasterCard M/Chip Fast offering.

As has been well noted, the EMV shift has exposed merchants across all verticals to a boost in chargebacks. The needs of the small and mid-sized firms, especially in hospitality, dictate that card information not be shared at the point of sale.
