Oh Canada! The United States has much in common with its neighbors to the north, but to what extent as far as payments ecosystems? And are Canadians perhaps ahead of the United States in adapting to innovations in payments, particularly in mobile?

In this exclusive NEXTcast interview, TSYS Marketing Consultant Laura Richardson shares her experiences and observations regarding the Canadian payments sector with Karen Webster of Market Platform Dynamics. Richardson, who was part of the first Canadian support team for TSYS, reveals how citizens’ interest in technology is fueling payments innovation and the impact of issuers now being able to offer multiple networks. Executive Bio: Laura Richardson, Marketing Consultant at TSYS

Laura Richardson is a Marketing Consultant for TSYS, one of the world’s largest payment services providers. Ms. Richardson was a part of the first Canadian support team for TSYS, when its relationships with Canadian Tire and Royal Bank of Canada began in 1998. She continued working with those and other Canadian clients until 2003. In the time since, Ms. Richardson has worked on projects related to TSYS’ Canadian clients, including research and marketing opportunities and communication efforts related to the Canadian Cost of Borrowing rules.
