CARDFREE Launches Merchant-Centric Mobile Platform

Merchant solution provider CARDFREE debuted today a fully integrated mobile platform, enabling companies to drive incremental visits, larger ticket size, tender preference and more meaningful consumer engagement under their branded experience. This comes after a recent closing of $10 million in Series A Funding.

CARDFREE allows merchants to create personalized offers and promotions, allow mobile payments, loyalty, order-ahead, and social media engagement, all of which comes with robust reporting.

The San Francisco-based company is owned by Jeffrey Katz, co-founder of payments processor Mercury Payments Systems, who said the company’s goal is to fill the “gap in the market for seamless merchant solutions that integrate mobile, online and POS…merchants are going to be a big driver of mobile commerce in the near future.”

Jon Squire, CEO of CARDFREE, said, “We have reunited the individuals that created the gold standard in mobile commerce deployments. Our goal is to lead merchants to new levels and ensure they remain at the center of their customer relationships, rather than being secondary in third party mobile apps or wallets…Our team comes from large merchants, vendors who service them and payments enablers; together, we will look to further disrupt the status quo of mobile.”

Squire was formerly CMO at CorFire, leading Dunkin’ Donuts Mobile efforts, and was also SVP of Payments at mFoundry, spearheading Starbucks Card Mobile.
