Mattel, Walmart Expand Virtual Toy Store

Mattel and Walmart’s QR code-enabled virtual toy store, launched in select locations in 2012, will expand to more stores this holiday season, according to a November 6 report from Mobile Commerce Daily.

Walmart outlets in Toronto reported positive results for the initial program, in which consumers completed purchases with their smartphones by scanning applicable QR codes.

During the next year, locations in Montreal, Vancouver, as well as more stores in Toronto, will roll out the program.
