Study: U.S. mPayments Growth To Slow

Mobile-payments growth is expected to slow during the next four years.

This conclusion was offered by a Forrester Research analyst at a recent conference hosted by Mobile Marketer. Denee Carrington, lead analyst for mobile payments and digital wallets at Forrester, estimated a 5 percent average growth rate in mobile payments between now and 2018, according to a Jan. 16 report from Mobile Commerce Daily.

“We do expect to see accelerated growth in both consumer adoption and merchant acceptance,” Carrington said. “The reason for that is wallet providers are really focused on delivering value to merchants and consumers, [and also] focused around removing friction out of the commerce experience – online, in-store and through their mobile devices.”
