Amex’s Revamped Green Card Expands Rewards For Travel, Transit, Dining

American Express has announced that it has reimagined its American Express Green Card to include new benefits and features.

Now called Green from Amex, the card allows users to earn triple membership rewards points when eating out, commuting or taking a trip, according to a press release. In addition, card members can receive up to $100 in statement credits per calendar year toward the purchase of CLEAR membership, as well as up to $100 in statement credits per calendar year toward purchases with LoungeBuddy.

“We know our card members value experiences — big and small — and a digital membership that fits seamlessly into their daily lives,” Rachel Stocks, executive vice president of Global Premium Products & Benefits for American Express, said in the release. “The Green Card was introduced 50 years ago to meet consumer needs as the travel industry took off. Today, we are reimagining this iconic card to once again meet the evolving needs of our card members and reward the areas they care about and regularly spend in — travel, transit and dining.”

Green from Amex will also offer digital and lifestyle services, including a mobile assistant accessible through the American Express app. The assistant can complete various tasks, from booking flights and hotels to checking rewards balances and answering account questions.

Card members can also split the bill with other Venmo or PayPal users while still earning rewards for the purchase, while purchase flexibility can help users manage their account more effectively. There is also the option to spend beyond their limit while still earning rewards.

Green from Amex now has an annual fee of $150, an increase from the previous fee of $95. For a limited time, new card members can receive up to $100 in statement credits toward purchases with Away in the first three months of membership and earn 30,000 membership rewards points after spending $2,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months.
