Coronavirus Refunds: Pittsburgh Pirates Unveil Rollover, Reimbursement Policies

Pittsburgh Pirates Unveil Rollover, Reimbursement Policies

As the pandemic continues to disrupt everyday life the world over, consumers might want refunds on things they have already paid for but may not be able to use. Sports teams are offering to provide credits or refunds to their fans.

The Pittsburgh Pirates unveiled their reimbursement and credit policies at a time when it is not known if PNC Park will have the ability to host spectators for this year’s season amid the pandemic, according to a statement. The MLB team said those who have season tickets can decide to roll over all of their ticket value from this year to next year.

Incentives for rolling over the ticket value include a free seat upgrade for a game in 2021 depending on availability, a 15 percent bonus ticket credit for every dollar rolled over and “exclusive 2021 Season Ticket Benefits” with the inclusion of “Double BUC$ Back.”

It asked those who want to receive a partial or complete reimbursement for June to September events for season tickets to fill out a survey that will be sent to them via email in the days to come. Fans have to finish the form by July 31 at the latest per the team.

The team said those who have tickets to individual games during the initial 2020 schedule will receive automatic reimbursements. It instructed StubHub customers to refer to the site’s user help section regarding delayed, rescheduled or called off events and noted that those who purchased tickets from other third-party platforms should check with the seller regarding a refund policy.

In terms of having spectators, the team said, “We remain in constant contact with the health experts, governmental officials and league representatives as we consider numerous ideas that will allow us to host fans in a safe manner this season. Please know that the health and safety of our players, coaches, staff, fans and community at large remains paramount in these discussions.”
