Colombia: SIC goes after new driver training and diagnostic services cartel

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce of Colombia (SIC) announced a new antitrust investigation in the service sector for driver exams and vehicle diagnostics, as announced by the Delegate for the Protection of Competition, Juan Pablo Herrera.

    Eleven companies and eight related individuals have been accused of organizing a mechanism to limit competition in the markets that provide the Control and Surveillance System for vehicles, better known as Sicov.

    The SIC revealed that 6 of the 10 companies under investigation were part of a ‘de facto’ business group, called the Simetric Organization, which included 40 companies dedicated to different business areas. They are also accused of having colluded with other companies, including Olimpia Management S.A. The group would have established itself as the sole provider of the SICOV service between 2013 and 2018.
