Filling prescriptions used to be such a drag. Then came the advent of apps, and all became well as the process of getting one’s pills and potions got just a little less tiresome.

Not that this latest ranking knows anything about “tiresome.”

Things were fairly calm around here last month (could be all that medication, maybe not), but this time around we’ve got familiar faces mingling with new as the new Provider Ranking of Prescription Apps becomes a veritable meetup of prescription power players that makes for a quick and interesting read.

Since you’re never supposed to skip a dose, read on.

    The Top 5

Certain apps get to the top and stay there for long periods of time. At No. 1 GoodRx is a perfect example, immovable these past months.

Same can be said of the SingleCare – Rx Coupons app at No. 2 and holding.

The CVS Caremark app is up a spot to No. 3, and frankly, we kind of called that one.

Rising two spots to No. 4, the Publix Pharmacy reenters the Top 5 in smashing style after an absence.

At No. 5 it’s RxSaver Prescription Discounts, falling two spots but sticking to the Top 5.

There’s much more in store. Let’s continue.

    The Top 10

A tie has formed at No. 6 pitting Express Scripts (dropping one spot and out of the Top 5) against the OptumRx app, which rises one chart position. We do love a competitive tie.

Up one chart position to No. 7 it’s RxLocal.

Similarly, the KrogerRxSC app is up a spot too, taking No. 8 this cycle.

Now for the most fun part. There are two brand-spanking new names in this latest Provider Ranking of Prescription Apps, and because we’re app nerds here, that’s kind of exciting.

New at No. 9 it’s ScriptSave WellRx Rx Discounts making its debut in these rankings. Hi there.

And, at No. 10, another fresh face. It’s the Blink Health prescription app, charting for the first time ever and, as we’ve already said, giving us cause to break out the champagne.

We can’t drink it because we’re on medication. We can break it out, however.
