Gig App Provider Ranking Sees a Close Race for First Place

Which one will arrive first, the ride or the food delivery? It’s a close race in the latest edition of PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Gig Economy Apps, as the leader is just one point ahead of the runner-up.

There’s a bit of a wait for the other contenders, as the third-ranked app is eight points behind the runner-up, and the No. 4 app is another 20 points behind that.

At the same time, some of the gaps are closing, as two movers and shakers have added six points to their score since last month. There’s also some movement in the ranks, as two contenders have moved up a spot.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the entire field.

The Top 5

First up is Uber Driver, which holds its place at the top of the rankings with a score of 95.

The runner-up is just one point behind, as DoorDash earns a score of 94.

After a gap of eight points, there’s the third-ranked app, Instacart, with a score of 86. This app has added six points to its score since last time, making it one of this month’s top movers and shakers.

There’s then a 20-point gap in the field before we reach No. 4. Grubhub keeps its hold on this position with a score of 66.

Just one point behind that is Amazon Flex. With a score of 65 — two points higher than last time — this app has moved up a level in the rankings and now rests at No. 5.

The Top 10

Bumped out of that position and landing at No. 6 is Fiverr, which checks in this month with a score of 63.

There’s more movement at the seventh position in the rankings, as Upwork moves up one spot with a score of 61. As that score is six points higher than the one the app achieved last time, this is another top mover and shaker.

The previous holder of that spot, Lyft Driver, is now ranked eighth with a score of 60.

There’s no change at No. 9, as TaskRabbit retains this position in the rankings with a score of 52.

There’s another familiar name at the tenth spot, as Freelancer maintains this position with a score of 45 and closes out this month’s edition of the Provider Ranking of Gig Economy Apps.
