New Mobile Order-Ahead App Provider Ranking an Appetizing Dive Into a Sizzling Sector

Dunkin App

Anyone hungry? Don’t be silly. Everyone is — and we’ve got the data to prove it.

Welcome to another edition of PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Mobile Order-Ahead Apps, where we view the world of delicious deliveries through the lens of a smartphone camera.

From that vantage, there have been a few notable changes since last cycle — so if you’re not going to have that burger or burrito, let’s get ravenous about these rankings.

The Top Five

Where we had a clear leader last month, we now have a tie at No. 1 between the Dunkin’ app, which was already at No. 1, and the Domino’s Pizza app.

The Starbucks app is having a coffee at No. 2, so no change there.

Same story for the Panera Bread app, relaxing at No. 3 for another cycle.

At No. 4, the Taco Bell app also hasn’t moved since last we checked.

Why break a streak now? Still clucking happily at No. 5, it’s the Chick-fil-A app, completing the top five with a surfeit of good taste.

The Top 10

Moving on is considerably more difficult when there are six apps vying for one chart position. That’s the situation we face for a second month, as you will now discover.

Starting with three apps that were already ranked at No. 6 last cycle, we’ve still got the Chipotle, Pizza Hut and Wingstop apps sitting at No. 6, and now joined there by the McDonald’s app, leaping up two chart positions in a change we’ve been expecting.

Meanwhile, the Burger King app continues its reign at No. 7 for another go-around.

Taking a bit of a tumble is the Papa John’s Pizza app, falling two spots to take No. 8.

That’s neither here nor there for the Sonic Drive-In app, which remains ensconced where we’ve found it lately at No. 9 — a spot it’s occupied for several cycles. But that can change in a snap.

Taking us out at No. 10 again is the Sheetz app, which lets customers order, earn loyalty points, pay with saved gift cards and view nutritional information. Sounds like a good value.

That’s really the point, isn’t it? Value. Based on the order volumes of these appetizing apps, we don’t wonder at their ongoing popularity and booming usage. Pandemics come and go. But here at the Provider Ranking of Mobile Order-Ahead Apps, we know that MOA is here to stay.
