Security Breach! Barclays’ Contactless Cards Have Issues

An investigative team was able to use mobile phones to lift card numbers, expiration dates, and accountholder names from Barclays’ “contactless” Visa cards late last week.

    That data was then used to buy “multiple goods online,” according to a published report from The Telegraph.

    The Telegraph says Barclays may face fines for potentially exposing roughly 13 million Visa cardholders to fraud. A spokesman for Barclays said the company “firmly believe that [contactless] continues to be a safe and viable payment system.”
