Dallas Merchants Opt For Mobile POS

Hoping to reduce checkout times for consumers, a group of 15 businesses located in Dallas, Texas, are signing on to use Cartwheel Register, a new mobile POS system that utilizes image recognition, Mobile Commerce Daily reported on December 6.

Merchants can use a mobile device to take a snapshot of a credit or debit card. Cartwheel Register uses the image to then process the payment.

“From the start, it means that a business can use Cartwheel Register and a consumer doesn’t have to change,” William Cervin, co-founder and CEO of Tantrum Street, Cartwheel Register’s developer, told Mobile Commerce Daily in an interview. “The merchant will be able to be on the sales floor and engage more directly with [customers]. It should feel cooler for the customers.”

Tantrum Street announced earlier this week bakeries, gift shops and food trucks in Dallas are among the types of business participating in the Cartwheel Register trial. Learn more by reading the company’s full press release here.
