Report: Google To Add In-App Payments To Chrome

Google is adding in-app payments for Chrome packaged apps, according to a The Next Web report.

Developer Francois Beaufort first discovered the addition, which lets users install the Chrome Wallet Service app as part of Chrome Canary, which leads to a “Launch app” button. This feature lets users access the Chrome in-app payment sample available on GitHub.

The Next Web notes that Chrome Canary is on version 29 right now, and speculates that “this integration won’t make it into the stable channel of Chrome for a couple of months.”

Earlier this month, Google Wallet introduced one-click purchases, an Instant Buy button and Gmail integration and also axed its Google Checkout platform.
