Major mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) provider Square has terminated its gift card service, according to a Reuters report.
“Square gift cards were a fun way to send gifts from local businesses to anyone over the holiday season,” a Square spokesman told the media outlet. “They are no longer available for purchase.”
Square launched its gift card service in December 2012. The cards were redeemable at businesses that accepted payments via Square Wallet.
