Stop & Shop Grocery Partners With Instacart to Offer 30-Minute Delivery

Stop & Shop

Stop & Shop, a grocery store chain that operates 400 stores throughout the Northeast, has joined forces with Instacart to debut Stop & Shop Express. The service promises delivery of grocery, household items and convenience items in as little as 30 minutes, according to a Tuesday (Oct. 12) press release.

Shoppers will be able to choose from more than 30,000 convenience items such as prepared foods, snacks, beverages, paper goods, household cleaners and baby products. Stop & Shop Express is available to customers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and New Jersey, where Stop & Shop stores are located.

Stop & Shop Express will join Instacart’s Convenience Hub, an Instacart Marketplace product feature that streamlines the experience of shopping for convenience items. Stop & Shop first partnered with Instacart in 2017 to offer customers same-day delivery. In July 2020, the grocer expanded its availability on Instacart to 321 locations, making same-day, contactless delivery accessible from most of its stores.

As part of the Stop & Shop Express launch, customers will receive $20 off their $30 order beginning Oct. 19 with the code Save20on30VC. Stop & Shop Express is available seven days a week when stores are open, according to the release.

In its push to expand the offerings of the “bring-it-to-me economy,” Instacart earlier this month announced the acquisition of catering software company FoodStorm, as PYMNTS reported. With the purchase, Instacart can leverage the company’s software for grocers to process online catering orders for corporate caterers, retailers and quick-service restaurants.

The FoodStorm acquisition follows Instacart’s recent collaboration with direct-to-consumer heat-and-eat meal kit provider Sunbasket to bring the company’s meal solutions to Instacart shoppers.
