Two Gift Card Options From Recurly

Recurly has announced that gift subscriptions are now available to clients of its enterprise-grade subscription management platform. This service will be combined with coupon features to attract subscribers during the holiday season and into 2017.

According to Recurly: “For a subscription business, its most loyal subscribers are influential evangelists, promoting the products and services they value and enjoy through word of mouth, reviews and recommendations. With Recurly Gift Subscriptions, subscription businesses have an easy way to give these fans the ability to purchase favorite subscriptions as gifts, satisfying their customers’ gift-giving needs, while also acquiring new subscribers in a cost-effective manner. Subscriptions strike a chord with givers and recipients who are looking to share the things they love with friends and family,” said Dan Burkhart, CEO of Recurly. “Recurly Gift Subscriptions are an ideal way for businesses to expand their subscriber base, while giving consumers the ability to choose the gift option best suited to the needs of those on their shopping lists.”

A report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, its 2016 Holiday Outlook, found that 42 percent of consumers participating in a survey expressed a preference for receiving gift cards, and 32 percent of those surveyed said that they were planning to buy gift cards during the holiday period.

Recurly’s Gift Subscriptions allow businesses to choose between two gift-giving options, which are described by Recurly in its announcement:

“Gift Cards offer a high degree of flexibility as subscription businesses can designate dollar amounts, and recipients have the ability to choose when they would like their new subscription to begin. Automated emails notify the recipient of the gift, remind them to redeem the gift card and provide renewal information when the gift recipient wishes to continue the subscription using their own credit card information.”

“Gift Plans give purchasers the ability to specify the duration of the gift subscription, with the option of renewing on a recurring basis. The gift plan option is ideal for companies offering physical goods, as the shipment is sent to the recipient at the time of purchase.”
