PYMNTS Daily Data Dive: Rewards and Befuddlement With Mobile Technology

A love of rewards programs and befuddlement with mobile technology were some of the findings from the latest PYMNTS/InfoScout Mobile Payments adoption tracker, which has polled 4,000 consumers over the last 18 months.

Comparisons between Android mobile payments and Apple Pay users show that more Starbucks mobile app users download the iOS app and tend to be Apple mobile users, while Walmart Pay users are Android users. Apple Pay users sometimes choose a credit card to pay to make use of rewards points. Interestingly, Android Pay/Samsung Pay users were less befuddled by new mobile payments technology while those who had downloaded Apple Pay didn’t try it because they felt hesitant taking it for a spin.
