Carvana Opens Largest Car Vending Machine In Tempe

Carvana, the eCommerce platform for buying and selling used cars, announced Wednesday (June 20) that it has launched its largest Car Vending Machine to date, located in the company’s hometown of Tempe, Arizona.

In a press release, Carvana said the machine stands nine stories high, is all glass and holds as many as 34 vehicles. It’s the third Car Vending Machine launch in June, with Tempe the 12th location for the vending machines. Tempe joins 11 other cities that have Carvana vending machines, including Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Nashville (Tenn.), Raleigh (N.C.), Charlotte (N.C.), Jacksonville (Fla.), Tampa (Fla.), Orlando (Fla.) and Washington, D.C.

“We’re incredibly proud to be a part of the metro Phoenix community,” said Ernie Garcia, founder and CEO of Carvana, in a press release announcing the launch of its latest vending machine. “Opening our largest Car Vending Machine to date in the city that shares our headquarters means so much to us. We’re excited that our hometown and many of our employees can continue to enjoy the new way to buy a car, now with the unique vending machine experience we’re known for.”

Customers who go to Carvana.com or use the mobile app can shop through more than 10,000 vehicles, finance the car, purchase and schedule as soon as next-day delivery or Car Vending Machine pickup. The process, said Carvana, can take as little as 10 minutes. Upon arriving at the Car Vending Machine, customers receive a Carvana coin to activate the vending machine process and transport the car into the delivery bay. The pickup process typically takes only minutes, according to the company — much shorter than in a dealership. Carvana said every car comes with a seven-day return policy, and all Carvana vehicles are Carvana Certified.

Carvana launched in 2012, and in 2017 it opened its new headquarters in Tempe and began offering free, next-day delivery to Phoneix metro residents.
