Chick-fil-A Moves Into Meal Kits

A new entrant has stepped into the meal kit game. Chick-fil-A is about to experiment with the concept in Atlanta.

Starting August 27th, the chain will launch Mealtime Kits at 150 restaurants in the greater Atlanta area.  The idea behind the kits is to make it easier for customers to have their own Chick-fil-A experience at home — aided by pre-measured, fresh ingredients. Customers don’t even have to enter the restaurant to get one — the meal kits will be available at drive-up windows and can be ordered through Chick-fil-A’s app.

Because variety is the spice of life, the kits will offer several recipes that are easy to follow and, of course, tie in the chicken that has made Chick-fil-A beloved by millions nationwide. The recipes feature dishes such as chicken parmesan, chicken enchiladas, dijon chicken, pan roasted chicken and chicken flatbread. Each kit is designed for two people and they cost $15.89 a pop.

“We know our guests are busier than ever and need a variety of convenient dinner options. We’re excited to offer Mealtime Kits as a new way for us to serve our guests by providing fresh ingredients to enjoy a delicious meal at home,” said Michael Patrick, innovation program lead at Chick-fil-A, who is the frontman of the Mealtime Kits effort.

“We designed our offering so our guests don’t have to order ahead, subscribe to a service or make an extra stop at the grocery store. They simply pick up a Mealtime Kit at one of our restaurants at their convenience — for example, when they’re already at a Chick-fil-A restaurant grabbing breakfast or lunch, or in the drive-thru on their way home.”

The kits can be prepared when the customer gets home, or can be kept cold in the refrigerator for a few days. To make things simple for customer chefs, all meals are stamped with a use-by date.

Though the service will only be available in the Atlanta area this summer, the chain is currently taking online forms from customers to get a feel for where interest for this service might exist.
