Uber Launches Products, Features for Business Travel

Business travel is making a comeback and Uber is capitalizing on the trend with new products and features designed to make the journey smoother, more comfortable, and more efficient for business travelers.

In a press release posted Thursday (June 1), Susan Anderson, global head of Uber for Business, said the firm recognizes the evolving needs of business travelers who now “expect more flexibility, greater convenience and an elevated experience — benefits they have grown accustomed to when they travel for leisure.”

To that end, Uber is launching Uber Business Comfort, a ride type exclusive to business travelers.
The offering includes priority pickup, newer cars, more legroom, highly rated drivers, and custom preferences. Travelers using Uber Business Comfort will also have access to a designated, 24/7 personalized support service.

Within the Uber and Uber Eats app is a business hub to manage their travel needs, view their employee perks and travel policies, and travel and meal programs.

Uber will soon allow app users to toggle between personal and business profiles.

Uber is also experimenting with additional benefits for business travelers, including exclusive Uber One membership promotions and the ability to earn personal perks like Uber Cash.

“With Uber for Business, travelers can easily switch into a business mindset wherever they go, making it easier than ever to stay productive and focused on the job at hand. As employers become increasingly intentional with their business travel policies, Uber’s new offerings are sure to be a game-changer in the world of business travel,” Anderson added.

PYMNTS on Monday reported that a growing share of European taxi drivers’ business is coming from Uber.

The share of these taxi drivers’ rides that are booked on the platform has risen from 5% a year ago to 10% today, Reuters reported.

Uber and European taxi drivers had been in conflict in the past, but that changed after the implementation of new rules that require Uber drivers to have a commercial license, according to the report.
