Worldnet Payments has completed the EMV certification of the ID TECH VP5300, an unattended card reader, the company said in a release.

The VP5300 is a device that has low power consumption but is also durable and easily takes EMV payments. It can be used for a variety of needs, like parking, ticketing or any other unattended payment application.

“This certification allows us to broaden our offerings for those entering the unattended retail space and helps to meet the growing demand for this kind of payment solution” said John Clarke, chief innovation officer with Worldnet Payments. “Much of that demand is being driven by new Intelligent and Automated Retail solutions rather than the traditional style of vending. These need specialized payment solutions to deliver a smooth and frictionless consumer experience, including an omni-channel payment capability, including online and mobile.”

ID TECH Unattended Product Manager Jason Hall said the VP5300 is a very versatile device.

“ID TECH’s versatile unattended product suite, including the VP5300, allows our customers to accept multiple forms of payments in many different unattended environments. This is especially important as the unattended space continues its rapid evolution,” Hall said. “By having a pre-certified solution with Worldnet’s GoChip application to First Data, ISVs and end customers have the most efficient way of supporting EMV transactions by having the traditional challenges of EMV certification removed.”

Last month, Worldnet Payments entered into a strategic agreement with POSDATA to deliver fully integrated and pre-certified EMV payments solutions.

In a press release, the companies said the solutions they develop will be targeted at independent software vendors (ISVs) that are having a tough time managing all the different elements of payments, including multiple hardware and software vendors.

“ISVs who want to deliver payments capability to their customers often have the problem of dealing with multiple touchpoints across hardware suppliers, distributors, payments gateways and merchant accounts,” said Will Byrne, CEO of Worldnet Payments. “Worldnet and POSDATA are well-positioned to deliver all of these components in an integrated solution. Together, we can deliver this through a single interface to the customer, which is worth more than the sum of its parts for ISVs.”
