The offering will be powered by Alchemy’s AgentCard, according to the post.

Alchemy introduced AgentCard in March, saying in a post on X that the product lets the user’s agent buy anything, including inference and APIs; DoorDash, Amazon and Uber orders; marketing; and trades on Polymarket.

In the Thursday post announcing the partnership with Mastercard, Alchemy said: “The checkout button is dying. AI agents will discover, compare and buy products on behalf of their users. With [AgentCard], we’re giving developers the identity, wallet and one-time-use [Mastercard] credentials to make that happen anywhere Mastercard is accepted online.”

The new offering uses Mastercard Agent Pay and supports Mastercard Verifiable Intent, which enables payments to carry what the user approved, such as the merchant and the amount, while keeping the user’s everyday card protected, according to an announcement on the AgentCard website.

Alchemy’s Thursday post on X shared a link to a report by The Wall Street Journal that said the new agentic payment option created by the partnership is designed for everyday purchases and sets the stage for what Mastercard and Alchemy executives said will be a new era in payments.

Mastercard Chief Product Officer Jorn Lambert said in the report: “We believe it’s not about if, it’s about when and how quickly.”

Alchemy Co-Founder and CEO Nikil Viswanathan said in a Thursday press release: “By working with Mastercard, AgentCard can help developers bring agentic commerce into the mainstream with the security and reliability people expect from modern payments.”

Mastercard Executive Vice President of Digital Commercialization Sherri Haymond said in the release: “Mastercard Agent Pay brings the trust, safeguards and consumer control needed to help agentic commerce move from experimentation to everyday use.”

Mastercard U.S. Co-President Chiro Aikat told PYMNTS CEO Karen Webster in an interview posted Thursday that about 132 million consumers are using AI, and shopping is becoming a part of that activity.

Mastercard launched Agent Pay in April 2025, saying this agentic AI-driven payment program would help unlock agentic commerce with trust, security and control.

In March, Mastercard added Verifiable Intent to Agent Pay, describing it as an open-source, standards-based framework designed for agentic commerce. Verifiable Intent links a consumer’s identity, their specific instructions and the outcome of a transaction into a single, tamper-resistant record.

Alchemy announced in June that it integrated AgentCard with Visa Intelligent Commerce, providing AI agents with a complete identity and payment stack that lets them make online purchases on a consumer’s behalf.
