Month of March Ends with APSI Conference Focus on Mobile

by Tim Attinger

Greetings to the PYMNTS.com universe from Market Platform Dynamics. If you’re reading PYMNTS.com, you’re most likely highly interested in the future of the payments business. And if you are anywhere near the Left Coast at the end of the month, then you simply must take the time to register for and attend the Alternative Payments Systems Summit in San Francisco on March 29th and 30th.

Market Platform Dynamics will be there on Tuesday afternoon to discuss how the payments industry, specifically the intersection of mobile and payments, stands at the epicenter of a major ecosystem convergence in the marketplace. Advertisers, retailers, eCommerce engines, mobile operators, financial institutions and payments companies are all converging on a central commerce opportunity. How is this likely to evolve? Who are the major players driving this convergence, and why are they driving it? What are the target value exchanges for each of these participants, and how do they expect to monetize and catalyze their businesses? The 1:45 p.m. panel, entitled TRANSACTION WARS III: Merchants, Mobile Moguls, Financial Providers and Disruptors to Watch, will cover this and more. For a preview of our thoughts on this, we encourage you to read this article, Mobile at the Point of Convergence, from the February Lydian Journal.

Other exciting topics for the two-day conference include a morning session packed with discussions of the landscape for mobile payments and payments innovation, including views on the potential for mobile to drive customer contact, increased sale with acceptance solutions, drive payments, and create new ecosystems of cooperation. The day will also cover the possible impacts on the payments landscape from Durbin, NFC adoption and carrier billing solutions. Day 2 will start with overviews of the opportunities in mobile payments for merchants, financial institutions, risk managers and technology providers. The day will conclude with explorations of how to secure, distribute and profit from mobile payments. All in all, the two days promise to be filled with opportunity for payments professionals, and professionals of other industries interested in payments, to learn how the mobile and payments industries will converge.

Don’t miss out!
