Media report that healthcare giant BMI may be forced to divest some of its hospitals as competition regulators discuss how to reign in the group’s market dominance.
The Guardian reported that the UK’s Competition Commission may require BMI to sell 10 of its 64 hospitals, another hurdle for the firm currently facing financial woes.
Reports say the Commission has disregarded BMI’s money issues as it focuses its attention on the UK’s private healthcare sector. The Commission released provisional findings of their market analysis last month in which the regulator found that BMI has too much market power in private healthcare.
