EU: Eurotunnel stands its ground on ferry takeover

Eurotunnel has announced it will counter-challenge the Competition Commission’s claims that the channel tunnel operator giant could harm competition in its acquisition of three ferry ships. The ships were bought by a now-defunct ferry operator, SeaFrance, for $87 million. In response to the sale, the Competition Commission has announced concerns that prices could increase on MyFerryLink, which is the new service Eurotunnel has launched that will be using the three ferries. France’s antitrust authority approved of the deal last November.
