Amanda Reeves

Mandy Reeves is counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Litigation Department and the Antitrust and Competition practice group. Her antitrust practice includes representing clients before the Federal Trade Commission and the United States Department of Justice relating to investigations involving reviews of mergers/acquisitions and investigations of alleged anticompetitive conduct, as well as defending corporate clients in complex antitrust class action matters in multi-district litigation throughout the country and on appeal. Ms. Reeves recently rejoined Latham after spending two years serving as Attorney Advisor to Commissioner J. Thomas Rosch at the Federal Trade Commission. In that capacity she was responsible for advising Commissioner Rosch on all aspects of competition law, including merger and anti-competitive practice investigations, litigation and appellate strategy, the IP/antitrust interface, and policy matters. During her time at the Commission, Ms. Reeves worked on a wide range of mergers and conduct matters across numerous industries, including high technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, petroleum, and retail. Ms. Reeves has significant litigation and appellate experience in complex antitrust class action matters and has defended corporate clients in multi-district litigations throughout the country. Before joining the FTC, she represented a major semiconductor manufacturer in a horizontal price-fixing class action that was brought by direct and indirect purchasers and ultimately settled following the United States District Court for the Northern District of California's refusal to certify the class action. Ms. Reeves has represented several other international entities in cases raising issues under Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act. In addition to her antitrust work, Ms. Reeves also has worked on a variety of appellate cases, including cases before numerous courts of appeals and has handled all phases of Supreme Court litigation. She has represented clients in the Second, Third, Ninth, District of Columbia and Federal Circuits and the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Reeves regularly speaks and writes on antitrust issues, including recent developments in Sherman Act case law, Section 5 of the FTC Act, practicing before the FTC, and the application of behavioral economics to antitrust law.
