Elizabeth Bailey

Dr. Bailey is a Lecturer in the Finance Group at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bailey is an expert on the economics of antitrust and intellectual property, particularly the effects of proposed mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures on competition. She has provided economic analysis on mergers and acquisitions in the US and Europe, and has appeared before the US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission on a variety of transactions. In addition, she has provided analyses related to Section 8 of the Clayton Act (interlocking directorates). In the area of intellectual property, Dr. Bailey has analyzed damages in patent infringement litigation and has evaluated competition issues related to patents. She also specializes in the application of econometrics to these areas. Formerly a Vice President at NERA, Dr. Bailey remains affiliated with the firm. Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Bailey was an award-winning teacher in the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and the Executive Director of the University of California, Berkeley, Energy Institute at Haas.
