Friso Bostoen
Friso Bostoen is a full-time Ph.D. researcher at the Institute for Consumer, Competition & Market (CCM) of the KU Leuven. Under the supervision of Wouter Devroe, he researches abusive practices by online platforms under EU competition law, with a focus on the relation between online platforms and their business users. In 2018, Friso was awarded a competitive fellowship from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) to support his project. He edits the CoRe Blog on competition law, and his work has resulted in various international publications and presentations. Before starting as a Ph.D. researcher at his alma mater, Friso obtained his Bachelor and Master of Laws at the KU Leuven, graduating magna cum laude in July 2016. As a part of his master’s program, he spent a semester in Australia, studying at the University of Sydney. In May 2019, Friso obtained an LL.M. degree from Harvard University, where he focused on the regulation of new technologies. During his studies, Friso enjoyed participating in moot courts (Mertens de Wilmars, ELSA Belgium National Moot Court), finishing as a finalist twice. He also completed a number of internships with a focus on competition law, both in the public sector (Belgian Competition Authority) and in private practice (Van Bael & Bellis, Clifford Chance).
