Mathias Dewatripont was Director of the National Bank of Belgium, and an economist and professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He obtained his Ph.D. at Harvard University in 1986. He is a member of the Economic Advisory Group for Competition Policy of the DG Competition (European Commission), since 2004.
