Thomas Brown
Prior to joining Nyca, Tom spent twenty-five years as an attorney and angel investor in the FinTech space. He started his career defending Visa from antitrust attack and went inhouse at Visa where he served as the catalyst for the company’s reorganization and public offering. Returning to private practice, he secured notable victories for eBay and PayPal in antitrust litigation challenging the acquisition of PayPal and integration of PayPal into the eBay marketplace, served as counsel of record for Bill Me Later in the case challenging the white label origination model, and obtained the first ever no-action letter from the CFPB on behalf of Upstart. Immediately prior to joining Paul Hastings, Tom was a partner at the San Francisco office and a member of the Financial Services group. Before joining law firm practice, Tom was Vice President, Senior Counsel at Visa U.S.A. Inc. There he was responsible for managing the aftermath of the settlement in In re Visa Check/MasterMoney Antitrust Litigation, including the dozens of consumer class actions that were filed following the settlement. He was also deeply involved in the company's still ongoing transformation from a co-op to a shareholder owned company. Education: University of Chicago, J.D., John M.
