ACCC approves News Corp acquisition

    News Corp can move forward in its plans to increase its shares in free-to-air TV broadcaster Foxtel after the Australian Competition authority (ACCC) gave the proposed purchase the green light. Even though the move would give News Corp double its current holding, the ACCC explained that as News Corp already controls 25% of Foxtel as well as the right to appoint the CEO, changes in competition, if any, would be negligible.
