Argentina/Brazil: Marcopolo acquires 49% of Metalsur

Brazilian company Marcopolo has reported it has acquired a direct 49% stake in Argentina’s Metalsur Carrocerías S.R.L., with a value of US$9 million. With this operation Marcopolo would hold 70% of this company, as well as 51% of the company Loma Hermosa S.A.

    Metalsur, producer of bodies for public transport buses for the Argentine market, will be consolidated within Marcopolo, which will continue with the local production of city buses.

    The acquisition depends on approval by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition of Argentina (CNDC).
