Argentina: Government launches gasoline price-tracking app

 |  April 4, 2017

Argentina’s government has announced the launch of a new mobile phone app, which will offer consumers up to date information on the price of gasoline in different service stations across the country, based on the user’s location.

The app will be available for download from the Ministry of Energy’s website, allowing any users with a smartphone to access information from nearby service stations from all major companies, including YPF, Shell, Axion, Petrobras and Oil.

Service stations themselves will be responsible for keeping their data up-to-date at the ME’s website, with a maximum period of 8 hours for uploading any change in prices. The aim of the app, said the Ministry of Energy, will be to promote “transparency and to tell the truth” in this vital sector.
