The ACCC’s initial findings of Woolworths’s desired takeover of Hawker Supa IGA has suggested the authority may block the deal as Supa IGA is the only local market in north Canberra, where the deal would take place. A representative from Friends of Hawker Village, a local body of community supporters, says the group is pleased with ACCC’s findings, saying that if the deal were to be approved it would “inevitably compromise the viability of the smaller shops” in the area.
