Global video game company Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe broke Australian consumer law by telling customers they could not get a refund for faulty PlayStation games, reported Financial Times.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced on Wednesday, May 29, that Sony made false and misleading representations to Australian consumers on its website and the PlayStation online store.
“From around September 2017, Sony Europe told consumers seeking a refund for faulty games that it did not have to provide refunds for games that had been downloaded, or if 14 days had passed since [physical] purchase,” the regulator said in a statement.
Sony Europe is responsible for the terms of service that Australian consumers must agree to when creating a PlayStation account.
