Brazil: CADE stresses need for resolution to anticompetitive airport

A member of Brazil’s antitrust regulator CADE has stated the need for a resolution to capacity limits of the nation’s two airports, which have been reportedly found to be harming competition between airlines. According to member Ricardo Ruiz, Brazil’s two main airports are currently running at near-maximum capacity, preventing new airlines from initiating operations there. Ruiz stressed the need for financial investments into Brazil’s eight largest airports to promote competition between airliners for the next two years. The remarks were made at a presentation in Sao Paulo.
