Brazil: CADE to investigate possible cartel in passenger freight business

In a press release given to CPI, antitrust authority CADE has announced it has initiated an investigation into the market of the transportation of passengers under freight regime Campinas for a possible cartel. The market usually functions by private companies or public institutions booking the service of transportation for their employees, according to CADE. The antitrust body initiated the probe after the Special Action Group for fighting against Organized Crime issued documents that suggest evidence of the potential cartel; some companies and executives have allegedly fixed prices with the freight companies and took part in rigging bids for the service.
