Bulgaria: Gas supply scrutinized over market position

Bulgaria Energy Holding EAD is under investigation by the European Commission, according to reports. The natural gas conglomerate and its units are being reviewed by the EU over allegations of dominance abuse; a statement offered last Friday said the Commission has “concerns” that BEH possibly restricted access to crucial infrastructure. While further details were not disclosed, the investigation is part of a broader agenda to increase competition within Europe’s gas sector, especially within central and eastern Europe.
