Bulgaria: Regulator fines CEZ for abusing market position

Bulgaria’s competition watchdog said on Monday it had fined the local unit of power utility CEZ $727,717 for abusing its dominant market position.

    The Commission for Protection of Competition said in a statement that CEZ had delayed signing a contract to buy energy equipment needed to connect a Bulgarian investor to its grid.

    A CEZ spokeswoman said the company had yet to receive the ruling, but added that CEZ does not breach Bulgarian laws, including anti-monopoly ones, and will appeal in court.
