Over the last 10 years, Canada has often been the aggressor when it comes to foreign mergers and acquisitions, according to M&A International.
M&A International president Howard E. Johnson released the findings that counter recent concerns of foreign entities buying up Canadian companies, reports say. “Many people might be surprised to learn that Canadians are more often the aggressor in a deal versus the sellers and we saw that really increase since 2009,” Johnson said.
Johnson was announced as the consulting firm’s new president earlier this month.
According to M&A International, Canadians bought 4,787 foreign companies between 2004 and 2013. That number is compared with the 3,455 foreign firms that acquired Canadian companies in the same timespan.
