CCI to probe Coal India for abuse of dominance

The Competition Commission of India has ordered an investigation into Coal India’s possible abuse of its dominant market position. Coal India is state-controlled, and the world’s largest coal miner. The probe is prompted by a complaint filed by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company, in which it alleges that Coal India and its subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields have imposed unfair conditions on the supply of coal.
